SHURINK ("shrink") is an anti-aging procedure done by a non-invasive ultrasound device. It lifts and tightens the face for a youthful complexion and tightens the body for slimmer contours. Collagen renewal in the face triggered by HIFU involves heating the dermal and superficial muscular aponeurotic system (SMAS) layers that undergo separate phases of blood coagulation, wound contractions, and tighter shelving of new collagen to reduce wrinkles and sagging skin.

It depends on the clinic, but usually for 300 shots (the average number of shots required for a Shurink facelift) it costs around 250 USD. Since Shurink is a locally developed technology, it is much cheaper than alternative imported tech, like Ultherapy and Thermage.

The SHURINK utilizes cartridges focused on multiple depths of skin for lifting and tightening the face as well as tightening body tissues for contouring purposes. 1.5mm cartridge

Because the eye area, where aging is most evident, is thin and sensitive, the smallest cartridge of 1.5mm is used. When you want to improve wrinkles, pores, and skin texture, delivering the energy at a depth of 1.5mm (superficial dermis) is effective.

3.0mm cartridge

The 3mm cartridge is used to improve the sagging cheeks, jaws, and forehead. Delivering energy at a depth of 3mm (deep dermis) is effective when aimed at improving skin elasticity and tightening.

4.5mm cartridge

The 4.5mm cartridge is used to resolve wrinkles around your neck. It targets the SMAS layer and promoting collagen regeneration, and is used in areas where the skin layer is relatively thick, such as cheeks and neck.

The time taken for effects to show varies depending on for what purpose Shurink was performed. Treatment effects are relatively quick to show when it was treated in the superficial dermis layer (closer to the skin surface) for improving skin texture. However, when used for reducing wrinkles (thus used to target more deep, in the SMAS layer), the effects will show after 4 weeks or more.

Generally, a common procedure done with Shurink is the fat-dissolving injection. Fat-dissolving injections are commonly used to help get rid of double chin and the areas along the chin-to-jaw line. Using Shurink with fat-dissolving injections has greater face contouring effects (another common name for fat-dissolving injection is face-contouring injection) by getting rid of more excess fat.

Thermage is another good synergy treatment with Shurink. Thermage is another type of "laser lifting" procedure that is compared to Ulthera and Shurink. (Read our blog on Thermage VS Ultherapy) All of these lifting procedures are not technically "laser"; Ulthera and Shurink are ultrasound (HIFU) treatments, and Thermage is a radio-frequency (RF) treatment. Thermage targets a larger area in the shallower layers under the skin, whereas Shurink and Ulthera target more specific points deeper in the skin. Thus Thermage is great at improving light wrinkles and skin texture, and for skin that lack a lot of elasticity Thermage can be a good synergy treatment with Shurink.

Skin Botox is also a common procedure done in Korea with Shurink. Skin Botox, or also known as dermatoxin, is a procedure that injects Botox into shallow skin, improving pores and wrinkles. With Shurink, which delivers energy deep into the areas to improve skin elasticity, the synergy can improve skin elasticity and texture at the same time.

Competitive results for facial lifting and tightening will likely show over the next 3 months post treatment. However, patients may still experience slight redness for a few hours as well as swelling or tingling in either treatment area for up to a few weeks. There may also be bruising and numbness on treated areas but should resolve within 2–4 weeks following procedure.

Many patients and practitioners report that SHURINK, in comparison with other devices, delivers minimal pain with slight discomfort to the face or body, though sensations quickly subside immediately following treatment.
